Start Line changes at the 2019 Tamarack Ottawa Race Weekend

Ottawa, April 23, 2019 – The Elgin Street closure in downtown Ottawa has led Tamarack Ottawa Race Weekend organizers to make significant changes to the Start Lines for the Ottawa 2K, Ottawa 10K, Scotiabank Ottawa Half-Marathon and Scotiabank Ottawa Kids Marathon.

For the past several years, these races used Elgin Street heading southbound from Laurier.

The Ottawa 10K start line will move to Colonel By Drive, on the East side of the canal, South of the Laurier Street bridge.

The Ottawa 2K, the Scotiabank Ottawa Kids Marathon and the popular Scotiabank Ottawa Half-Marathon start lines will move to Cartier Street, between Ottawa City Hall and Somerset Street.

The Scotiabank Ottawa Marathon and the Ottawa 5K see only minor adjustments.

“Construction is par for the course in a big city like Ottawa,” said John Halvorsen, Race Director, Tamarack Ottawa Race Weekend. “We’ve had the same Start Lines for more than a decade, so we hope our runners will see this as an exciting change.”

John Halvorsen will measure all the affected courses as per the guidelines set out by the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) and the Association of International Marathons and Distance Races (AIMS).

Updated course maps are available at www.runottawa.ca. A list of road closures and times will be released closer to the event.

Tamarack Ottawa Race Weekend takes place May 25 and 26, 2019.
