Athletic Standards

The Tamarack Ottawa Race Weekend supports the dedication and commitment of elite athletes competing in the 2024 Tartan Ottawa International Marathon and Athletics Canada Canadian 10K Championships by offering an attractive prize money structure.

Prize money for the 2024 Tartan Ottawa International Marathon and 2024 Athletics Canada Canadian 10K Championships is available only to athletes who apply to and are accepted to the Elite Athlete Program, through the elite athlete application form. Athletes who register through open registration will not be eligible.

International Athletes

The 2024 Tartan Ottawa International Marathon is a World Athletics Label Race. We are recruiting select athletes for our elite field. Other interested international athletes should complete the application form.

The Ottawa 10K presented by Otto’s Ottawa is not a World Athletics Label race for 2024, therefore we will not be recruiting international athletes for this year’s race. If you are an international athlete, please do not apply for elite status in the Ottawa 10k.

Canadian Elite Athlete Status

Canadian elite athletes must meet the outlined athletic standards to be eligible for elite athlete status.

• Elite Standard receives complimentary entry and front-line access.

NOTE: Any travel support, per diem, or accommodation assistance will be at the discretion of the race organization.

New for 2024: Elite Athlete Billeting Program

Due to the changes to the elite athlete program, only select athletes will be provided accommodation assistance. Instead, elite standard athletes can apply for a local billet. Billets will be provided first to Canadian athletes, prioritized by seed time. If an athlete is interested in a billet, they can select the option on the application form.
