If you’ve ever run or walked a marathon, you know how crowd support can immensely help you. But being a good marathon spectator takes preparation and work. If you’re planning on watching an upcoming marathon, follow these marathon spectator tips to be an asset on the race course. 

Saturday May 25

All races finish on Queen Elizabeth Driveway north of Somerset Street West

2K – The 2K starts at the corner of Cartier and Cooper, south of Lisgar Street and the rear of City Hall. 

3:00 p.m. – 3:15 p.m. – Cartier Street between Cooper and Argyle

3:15 p.m. – 3:45 p.m. – Queen Elizabeth Drive between Argyle and the finish north of Somerset Street

3:30 p.m. – 3:45 p.m. – Queen Elizabeth Driveway between Frank Street & Somerset Street

5K – The 5K starts on Laurier Avenue east of Elgin Street

4:00 p.m. – 4:15 p.m. – Wellington and O’Connor Street

4:15 p.m. – 4:30 p.m. – Rideau Street & Colonel By Drive

4:30 p.m. – 4:45 p.m. – Colonel By Drive & the Shaw Centre, McKenzie King and Laurier Avenue Bridges

4:45 p.m.- 5:00 p.m. – Colonel By Drive under the between the Corktown Bridge and Hawthorne Avenue near the Royal Oak Pub

5:00 p.m. – 5:30 p.m. – Queen Elizabeth Drive north of Pretoria Bridge to Finish Line

10K – The 10K starts south of the Laurier Avenue Bridge at 6:25 p.m.

6:25 p.m. – 6:40 p.m. – Colonel By Drive between Laurier Avenue Bridge and Hawthorne Avenue

6:30 p.m. – 6:50 p.m. – Colonel By Drive between Pretoria Bridge, Bank Street Bridge and Bronson Bridge

6:45 p.m. – 7:50 p.m. – Bronson Avenue between Bronson Bridge and Lakeside

6:55 p.m. – 8:30 p.m. – Queen Elizabeth Driveway between Lakeside and the Finish Line

8:05 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. – Rockliffe Parkway between Lisgar Road and Birch Avenue

8:15 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. – Hemlock Road between Birch Street and Beechwood Road

8:20 a.m. – 12:45 p.m. – Beechwood Road between Hemlock and Crichton Street

8:25 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. –   Crichton, Dufferin and Stanley Avenue between Beechwood & Sussex

Times are approximate and based on when the lead runners will pass through an intersection until the last runner is expected to pass through.

Please note that due to time limits, participants in the marathon who do not reach the corner of St. Patrick and Sussex Drive by 11:30 a.m. will be informed that they will have to run the final 17 kilometres on sidewalks and pathways as the course will open back up to regular traffic.
