Join the Desjardins Charity Challenge

Give meaning to every kilometre: Fundraise, support, celebrate!

Thank you for your interest in fundraising for a charity in the Desjardins Charity Challenge! In 2024, Tamarack Ottawa Race Weekend participants raised over $1,132,150.21 for over 80 local and national charities! And we’re looking to supercharge that fundraising total in 2025, by leveraging a new, dynamic fundraising platform: JustGiving, the world’s leading online fundraising platform.

 

Ready to start fundraising? 

Not registered for Tamarack Ottawa Race Weekend 2025 yet?

  1. Register for your race
  2. During registration, select the option to raise funds for a charity.
  3. After checkout, a JustGiving fundraising page link will be created for you. This is your fundraising page!
  4. Set up your page right away—and you’re good to go! Start sharing with your networks with the JustGiving fundraising tools!

Already registered?

  1. Choose a charity from our List of Charities.
  2. Follow the prompts to set up your fundraising page.
  3. Need help? Check out the JustGiving Help Document.

Want to fundraise as a team? 

Fundraising as a team is a great way to raise even more for your chosen charity!

Here’s how to get started:

  1. Each team member needs to set up their own individual fundraising page
     Follow the steps outlined above.
  2. Choose your team captain
     This person will create the team page on JustGiving.
  3. Create your team page
    – The team captain should log into their JustGiving account and select ‘Create a team’.
    – Fill in the team details—what’s your goal? Are you fundraising in memory of someone?
    – Under settings, choose ‘Anyone can join’ so others can easily participate.
  4. Join the team
    After setting up their individual JustGiving pages, team members should log into their JustGiving account, isit the team page and click “Join Team” to link their individual pages to the team.

Most asked Questions

I don’t see my charity of choice listed

If your preferred Charity is not on that list, they are likely still onboarding to JustGiving. Please email charitychallenge@runottawa.ca with the name of your charity and we will notify you when you can set up your new pages.  

Have you already raised funds on Race Roster?

Don’t worry! The charity has already received those funds (thank you!) AND you can add your funds raised so far on Race Roster, or offline, on your JustGiving fundraising page’s totaliser. See this guide to learn more.

Have existing donations?

If you want to display donors from your Race Roster fundraising page on your new JustGiving fundraising page, you can post updates thanking your donors individually. See this guide to learn more.
