A First in Canada: Run Ottawa Launches Our Next Stride for Runners Navigating Menopause
The Participant form is now open for Our Next Stride, a new training program from Run Ottawa designed for perimenopausal and menopausal women and gender-diverse people preparing for Tamarack Ottawa Race Weekend, May 29–30, 2027. Run Ottawa has partnered with National Team Runner, researcher and coach Dr. Sasha Gollish, to deliver a program combining expert guidance on training, strength, nutrition, recovery and injury prevention within a supportive community of runners experiencing the same challenges.
“People don’t stop being athletes when they turn 40, 50, 60 or 70, and they certainly don’t stop having goals,” says Dr. Gollish. “Our Next Stride is about making sure women and gender-diverse people feel seen, supported, and empowered to keep chasing whatever finish line comes next.”
With training options for the 5K, 10K, Half Marathon and Marathon, Our Next Stride aims to address a gap in running culture and bring greater visibility to midlife athletes. The initiative offers a timely story at the intersection of women’s health, sport and inclusion, challenging assumptions about aging and athletic ambition.
