Tamarack Ottawa Race Weekend delivers new course and participation records

May 26, 2013 – OTTAWA –The Tamarack Ottawa Race Weekend has defended its place again this year as Canada’s premier running destination, easily breaking course and participation records while delivering the most intense spectator action the city has seen in years.

“We had a number of exciting moments this weekend,” says John Halvorsen, Race Director and President of Run Ottawa. “Watching course records fall in the 10K and marathon distances proves we are Canada’s top race destination and have fast courses not just for elites, but for runners looking to qualify for Boston or other prestigious races.” Cool weather on Saturday and Sunday was favourable for close to 44,000 runners registered in one of seven race options. While security precautions were tightened following events at Boston in April, there was no impact on the typically smooth operations and weekend events unfolded without incident.

“We had great cooperation from Ottawa Police Services, the City of Ottawa emergency staff and other organizations to make Race Weekend a success,” added John Halvorsen.
