Ottawa: reigning host city of the 2025-2026 Canadian 10K Championships
March 5, 2024, Ottawa – The City of Ottawa will once again host the Canadian 10K Championships as part of Tamarack Ottawa Race Weekend, as announced by Athletics Canada, the country’s national governing body for athletics. The national sport governing body has awarded Ottawa with the prestigious hosting honour for both 2025 and 2026.
“It takes a lot of dedication, perseverance and specialized skill to compete for a national championship,” said Athletics Canada Chief Executive Officer Mathieu Gentès. “Those are the same qualities that Run Ottawa exudes, leveraging those skills to create a world-class event for athletes, coaches, officials and fans who take part in this great event.”
The 2024 Ottawa 10K presented by Otto’s Ottawa serves as the Canadian 10K Championships. Last year the event yielded an impressive field of Canada’s best distance runners with Natasha Wodak and Moh Ahmed winning top spots. The 2024 elite athletes will be announced in May.

Tamarack Ottawa Race Weekend supports the dedication and commitment of elite athletes competing in the 2024 Athletics Canada Canadian 10K Championships by offering an attractive prize money structure. This year’s prize purse is over $28,000 and is available to the top finishers in both the men and women’s fields.
Prize money for the 2024 Ottawa 10K presented by Otto’s Ottawa is available to athletes who apply, and are accepted, to the Elite Athlete Program through the elite athlete application form. Athletes who register through open registration will not be eligible.
Only Canadian Citizens or those with a valid Canadian Permanent Resident Card are eligible to be declared Canadian Champions and receive a medal, award, or financial recognition.
The 2024 Athletics Canada Canadian 10K Championships takes place Saturday, May 25, 6:15 pm during Tamarack Ottawa Race Weekend. Register now at runottawa.ca.
