Richmond Road Races

Run fast or freeze!

Run Ottawa kicks off 2020 with the 38th edition of the Richmond Road Races, presented by our friends at Bushtukah. We hope you’ll join us for your choice of a 5K and 10K to start the New Year.

If you have ever run this event, you’ll know why it’s an annual favourite, with a friendly, warm atmosphere and a post-race social, featuring awards, draw prizes and a lunch with all the fixins! It’s the perfect opportunity to catch up with old running friends, and make some new ones.

All runners will receive long-sleeve shirts and an icy cool medal!

Event Info

Date; Sunday, January 12th

Location: South Carleton High School, 3673 McBean St. Richmond, On.

Start times: 10K – 10am  5K-  10:10am

Race Info

5K: This course is out and back, running south on McBean Street to Dobson Lane where runners will be directed east on Dobson to a turnaround point where they will be sent back to the finish line in front of the school.

10K: This race starts off with a 1K loop on roads that surround the school, then runners turn onto McBean Street and sent on a route that runs on mostly paved roads south of Richmond via Dobson and McCordick Roads. The final 4K, runners head north on Century Road and McBean Street into the finish.

Please note: Athletes competing with Wheelchair – This race takes place in January and the course commonly has snow and ice throughout, as well as sections with gravel road. It also takes place on a partially closed road. These conditions make this event unsafe for wheelchair participation.


Online registration is now open and will close on January 10th at midnight.

Run Ottawa Members will receive $10 discount. Youth member $5 discount.

Full price registration November 23 until it sells out

Each registration fee includes: a commemorative medal, long sleeve shirt, post-race lunch, chip timing and draw prizes. 
Please note we order our shirts several months in advance, prior to all registrations being completed. As such, we make projections with our order based on current numbers and race history to complete our order. Based on these factors, we are able to accommodate the vast majority, however, we cannot guarantee sizing. Please come early to the race-kit pickup opportunities to increase the likelihood of securing your size. Thank you for your understanding.



Chip timing will be provided by Sportstats.  Full results will be posted on the Sportstats website post-race

Race Kit Pick-Up

If you’d like to pick-up your bib/shirt in advance we have two opportunities for you to do so. Please note at this time there will be no on-site registration.

Bushtukah Westboro, 203 Richmond Road 

Bushtukah, 5607 Hazeldean Road (just east of Iber Road near Lowe’s) 

Race Day Info

Kit pick up: Open 8:30am to 9:45am
South Carleton High School Cafeteria – please note at this time there will be no race day registration.

Parking: Available within the lots of South Carleton High School. Free

Baggage Check: For this event there is no race day baggage check. Gear can be kept inside the cafeteria.

Water Station: A water station will be available on the 10K course at about the 5K mark.

Washrooms: Available within South Carleton High School. Comfort stations will be available at the 6k mark.

First Aid: Will be provided by St. John Ambulance.

Babysitting: For this event we do provide a babysitting service. Should you like to utilize please contact Joe Duvall

Awards: In addition to the lunch, within the post-race social, awards will be provided to the following:

Top finisher prizes will be given out to the first three male and female finishers in each event. Please note overall winners are not eligible for age category prizes.

There will be no age category awards, however, there will be a large number of draw prizes courtesy of Run Ottawa, Bushtukah and Zizu.
