Run fast or freeze!

Start the new year off at the coolest road race around! Run or walk a chill-y 5K or 10K, then join your community for a delicious post-run lunch inside South Carleton High School! This fun race is an annual favourite, and for good reason! It’s the perfect time to catch up with running friends both old and new in a warm, friendly atmosphere. Don’t miss out on the excitement!

Our charity partner for this year’s Richmond Road Races is OrKidstra, an Ottawa-based social development program that empowers kids from equity-deserving communities by teaching life skills, such as teamwork, commitment, respect and pride in achievement, through the universal language of music.

Weather Cancellation Notice

If weather conditions worsen and the event must be cancelled, an email will be sent by 6:30 am Please keep an eye on your email and Run Ottawa social channels for updates.

Should Run Ottawa cancel the event due to inclement weather, registration fees will be fully refunded. Refunds may take one to two weeks to appear, depending on your financial institution. Thank you for your understanding and patience while this is processed.

 

EVENT DETAILS

Races: 10 km and 5 km

Date: Sunday, January 25, 2026

Start times:

  • 10K: 10:00 am
  • 5K: 10:15 am

Location: South Carleton High School, 3673 McBean St. Richmond, ON

 

REGISTRATION FEES:

  • 10K Adult: $89.99 + HST
  • 10K Youth (ages 14-24): $33.75 + HST
  • 5k Adult: $89.99 + HST
  • 5K Youth (ages 8-24): $33.75 + HST

 

Online registration will remain open until race day, if bibs are available, with cost of onsite registration increasing to $101.24 + HST. Please note, this race usually sells out, so make sure to sign up early! 

 

ROUTE

The following temporary road closures will be in effect beginning at 9:20 am:

• McCordick Road will be closed to South Bound traffic from Brophy Road to Century
Road.
• Century Road will be closed to North Bound traffic from McCordick Road to Ottawa
Street
• McBean Street will be closed to all traffic in both directions between Burke Street and
Ottawa Street.

Roads will reopen once all participants are off course.

 

ACCESSIBILITY

  • With these races taking place on partially closed roads there are sections that pass multiple vehicle entry points, posing great risk to those competing in racing wheelchairs. It may be suitable for recreational wheelchair athletes. 
  • Road clearing on race day cannot be guaranteed. In the event of snow or icy conditions, participants using mobility devices may find certain areas of the route difficult or impassable. We encourage participants of all abilities to stay within their limits and comfort levels.
  • South Carleton High School is fully accessible.

GREEN BIB OPTION

The Green Bib does not include a medal, instead a portion of your registration fee will be donated to the event charity partner Orkidstra.

The program began in 2007 with 27 children and the passionate belief in the transformative power of music. It has grown to include 800 children and youth, ages 5-18, from over 62 cultural and linguistic backgrounds and has become a world-class example of why music is called the universal language. OrKidstra’s students demonstrate how the power of music gives them a voice that transcends differences and creates a community that celebrates diversity, commitment, and excellence.

AWARDS AND PRIZES

Podium prizes are awarded to the top 3 male, female, and non-binary athletes.

Random prize draws are awarded to five participants: two (2) Run Ottawa members, three (3) non-members. Participants are notified pre-race and can pick up their prizes at Race Kit Pick-up.
