Chase the Pace

A collaboration between Mile2Marathon and Run Ottawa

Track meets are often geared toward the fastest runners, but Chase the Pace is all about inclusivity. Everyone deserves a chance to hit the track with confidence, run in a supportive environment, and experience the thrill of racing with pacers, professional timing, and trackside cheers.

Come out, have fun, and connect with your local running community!

All adult races are 5000m (12.5 laps of the track)—a sweet spot between speed and endurance. Whether you’re aiming for 35 minutes, 15 minutes, or somewhere in between, you will be placed in a heat with runners at your pace. Mile2Marathon’s expert pacers will handle the pacing—you just do the chasing!

Or try the Mile! Perfect for those who want to test their speed or experience the magic of the track in a bite-sized challenge, the Mile offers the same inclusive, supportive vibe—with pacing, pro timing, and big energy—just in fewer laps.

This event is open to all, no matter your speed or experience.

Bringing some speedy little ones? Awesome! We’ve got 400m and 800m races just for them.

You will be asked what your pace is during registration to help place you in the correct heat. Not sure what your pace is? Use the Ottawa Run pace calculator to help calculate your pace!

Final Kids Heat Schedule

Please arrive by 5:00 pm and make your way to the infield.

  • 400m heats start: 5:15 – heats by age and gender
  • 800m heats start: 5:45 – heats by age and gender

Evening Track Schedule

  • 6:15 pm – 5000m Heat #1 (22:55 and up)
  • 6:50 pm – 5000m Heat #2 (20:30 to 22:30)
  • Friends and Family 4×100 Relay (no sign up necessary)
  • 7:30 pm Mile #1 (2013 and younger)
  • 7:42 pm Mile #2 (2012 and older)
  • 7:55 pm 5000m Heat #3 (19:30 to 20:10)
  • 8:18 pm 5000m Heat #4 (17:30 to 19:10)
  • 8:39 pm 5000m Heat #5 (15:45 to 17:05)

 

Please note: This is the final heat schedule. Due to the nature of track events, the schedule may shift by approximately 15–20 minutes. Arriving early is strongly encouraged—you’ll have more time to enjoy the atmosphere and get settled.

PARKING

Free parking is available onsite, there is also paid parking at Mooney’s Bay Park. Please give yourself extra time, especially during peak hours. Street parking may also be available. Carpooling, public transportation, and cycling is encouraged.

5000M PACERS
There will be pacers courtesy of Mile2Marathon, for the following goal times;
35:00, 30:00, 26:00, 25:00, 24:00, 23:00, 22:00, 21:30, 21:00, 20:30, 20:00, 19:30, 19:00, 18:30, 18:00, 17:30, 17:00, 16:30, and 16:00.
The pacers for each heat will be announced at the start line a few minutes before the heat begins. Please note, some last minute changes to exact pacing groups may be made.

ONLINE REGISTRATION DEADLINE

Online registration closed at Thursday June 11, 2026 at 11:59pm.  PLEASE NOTE there will be no onsite registration.
