Scotiabank Charity Challenge 2020 raises over $400K for Ottawa-Gatineau’s local charities
We’re excited and proud to share this good news story about Tamarack Ottawa Virtual Race Weekend 2020 participants, charities and donors. In this year of uncertainty and challenge, Tamarack Ottawa Virtual Race Weekend participants raised $419,141 for seventy-nine charities in the Scotiabank Charity Challenge and — with over $300,000 raised after the virtual race announcement, from April to September! This is a success story of generosity and dedication, and the charities are grateful for each and every dollar raised and donated.
This year has been extremely difficult for many frontline organizations and charities that rely on annual events for fundraising opportunities and donations, many of which were cancelled in 2020, without a virtual option. Tamarack Ottawa Virtual Race Weekend was able to provide charities an opportunity to rally their supporters to participate and fundraise in a meaningful and active way, without any cost to the charities themselves thanks to the support of Scotiabank.
Scotiabank assumes all the costs associated with the Charity Challenge program, so 100% of every dollar raised goes directly to the charities! In addition, charities and fundraisers are given free access to the online platform allowing charities and runners to easily automate their fundraising.
And there’s more. Each dollar raised helps official charities to win one of nine cash prizes, totalling $24,750 over three distinct categories, each with first, second and third places winning $4,250, $2,500 and $1,500 respectively.
Without further ado, here are your 2020 Scotiabank Charity Challenge Winners:
