Travel Itinerary: If not done already, please provide me with the details of your travel itinerary. This is required to book the hotel room nights and for a ride from the airport. If arriving before Thursday or between 10pm-8am, we are not providing a ride. A one-way taxi from the airport is about CDN$35. For a ride back to the airport, please check at the elite suite.
Accommodation: If you are being provided free accommodation, it will be the Ottawa Marriott hotel, 100 Kent Street. The race will NOT pay for incidentals (phone, mini-bar, etc). Hotel policy requires that the athlete will need to provide a credit card or $200 as a deposit to cover any incidentals.
Meals: If you are being provided accommodation at the Ottawa Marriott, meals are arranged through the hotel (from Wednesday-Monday). For athletes arriving/departing outside that window, you are responsible for your own meals.

Below is a map of the start/finish line area. Marked on the map is the elite sweat check areas.
This is a tent where you can leave your bag & extra clothes. It also has washrooms beside it.
It will be manned to ensure that only elites use the facilities. Please show your bib or Athlete badge to identify yourself. It will be set up 1hour before the start of the race.
Any clothing left at the START elite sweatcheck will be taken to the FINISH elite sweatcheck.
On Saturday, a volunteer will be available to escort/walk athletes from the Ottawa Marriott lobby to the start line elite sweatcheck at 5pm sharp. This is less than 1km and should take about 10mins.
Ottawa 10K only: The men’s race will start at 6:30pm. The elite/seeded women will be started roughly 4 min ahead of the men. The exact time will be posted in the pro suite.
Drop-off – Elite marathoners can have a maximum of 8 water bottles placed on the course. We will provide water bottles (300-500ml squirt bottles) or the athlete can bring their own.
On Course: Elite water bottles will be placed at the elite water stations. They will be located about 50m after each timing mat (5k, 10k, 15k, 21.1k, 25k, 30k, 35k, 40k). In addition, athletes can make use of the 15 water stations and 2 sponge stations that are available to all runners. Water and Nuun will be available at the water stations
Drug Testing: If CCES (Canadian Center for Ethics in Sport) performs any drug testing then you will be escorted to the location after the race. Drug testing procedures require athletes to bring a piece of IDENTIFICATION that includes a picture.
COURSE: The route is marked every kilometer.
There is a walking bridge about 150m before the finish line. It will have NO markings. Do not confuse it for the finish line. The finish line structure will have a clock & race sponsor logos.
AWARDS: The Awards ceremony will be held at the Finish Line – very shortly after the finish. 10K: Awards to the top 3 overall male & female.
Marathon: Awards to the top 3 overall male & female.
MEDIA: When talking to the media please use the full name of the race. The two pro events are the OTTAWA 10K and the SCOTIABANK OTTAWA MARATHON. The weekend is the Tamarack Ottawa Race Weekend.
Race winner – if you win the race, you will be given your flag to do a victory run back through the finish line crowds. After that, you will be interviewed for the live broadcast.
Once that is completed, you will join the other top runners being interviewed in the media area at the finish line.
Race Rules & Regulations:
Failure to follow these rules can lead to disqualification!
- Race bibs must be worn on the front.
- The bib must NOT be tampered with in any way. The *ENTIRE* bib must be visible (sponsor, number, etc) – that is, you can *NOT* fold it to make a smaller bib or add any sticker or logo to the bib number. No bib = no time/result = no money. The bib is also used for timing, so damaging it can result in no timing (= no money).
Course: The course has been marked according to how it was measured. Do *NOT* run on the sidewalk, on the grass, over a curb, inside a coned corner. This will shorten the distance you run and will result in disqualification.
