The Tartan Ottawa International Marathon is Canada’s fastest marathon. This race attracts thousands of participants, including a world-class contingent of pro-athletes every year. The Tartan Ottawa International Marathon is a World Athletics Elite Label Race and one of Canada’s largest Boston Qualifiers.

Canadian Masters Athletics (CMA) National Marathon Championships

Tartan Ottawa International Marathon will serve as the Canadian Masters Athletics (CMA) National Marathon Championships. 

The top three male and female finishers in each 5-year Masters age group who are CMA members, starting at ages 30-34, will be awarded CMA Gold, Silver and Bronze Championship medals. To be eligible for a CMA medal, you must be a current member of Canadian Masters Athletics (CMA) and you must enter your membership number at registration.

Free Shuttle buses from City Hall to Lansdowne Park:

A FREE and accessible shuttle bus service will be available to help you travel from Ottawa City Hall (Lisgar St. entrance) directly to the Health and Fitness Expo at Lansdowne Park and back! Please see schedules and frequency below: 

Friday, May 26:
8:00 am: First shuttle departs from Ottawa City Hall (Lisgar St. entrance).
11:30 pm: Last shuttle leaves the Health and Fitness Expo at Aberdeen Pavilion in Lansdowne Park.

Shuttles run every 30 minutes starting at Ottawa City Hall from 8:00 am – 4:00 pm, and every 15-20 minutes between 4:00 pm – 11:30 pm.

Saturday, May 27:
8:00 am: First shuttle departs from Ottawa City Hall (Lisgar St. entrance).
6:30 pm: Last shuttle leaves the Health and Fitness Expo at Aberdeen Pavilion in Lansdowne Park.

Shuttles run every 15-20 minutes from Ottawa City Hall from 8:00 am – 5:30 pm, and Lansdowne Park from 8:15 am – 6:30 pm.

The bus tour will leave from the Aberdeen Pavilion. Tickets are free and can be obtained at the Info Booth at the Health Expo at Aberdeen Pavilion on a first come first served basis.

Green Bib:

Run Ottawa is offering a Green Bib option at registration for those wishing to reduce their environmental footprint. In lieu of a medal or any mailed amenities, you can choose to divert part of your registration fee to the Green Bib fund which supports the Desjardins Charity Challenge.

Please see athletic standards and 2023 prize purse prior to applying. Applications will open in 2023.


Course Features

  • Kilometre markers along the entire route.
  • Water/Nuun stations are set up approximately every 3K. Nuun is served at the first tables of each station, and water at the following tables.
  • Xact Nutrition stations located at 11K, 22K and 32K in a mix of strawberry, apricot and orange flavours.
  • Cooling and misting stations available on-course.
  • Portable toilets at every water station.
  • Cheering and entertainment stations.
  • Full medical services on the route and at the finish line.
