Sold out! Tamarack Ottawa Race Weekend half-marathon sells out six months before event
10K and Ottawa Marathon neck and neck at 50%
November 21, 2013 – OTTAWA – The 12,500 spots Tamarack Ottawa Race Weekend half-marathon are officially sold out – six months before the event and a full seven weeks earlier than last year.
“We are blown away by how much people love of our race,” said John Halvorsen, Race Director and President, Tamarack Ottawa Race Weekend. “They know our event is well-organized and exciting, and that it will sell out. They’re committing earlier and earlier each year, which makes us very proud.”
In the past few weeks, organizers have seen the event sell quickly, especially as word spread online that the spots were filling up.
“Now that the half is sold out, we expect the 10K and Marathon will be next,” said Halvorsen.
The Ottawa Marathon and Ottawa 10K are now tied for registration at 50%.
“We’ve never seen the registrations for the Ottawa Marathon go this quickly before,” said Halvorsen. “We believe that the Ottawa Marathon’s 40th anniversary might be contributing to its increased popularity this year.”
People interested in participating in the half-marathon can still register to run for The Ottawa Hospital Foundation at www.runottawa.ca or for other official charities directly on their websites.
The 2014 Tamarack Ottawa Race Weekend will take place May 24-25, 2014.
