COVID-19 update: a message on contingency planning from the Executive Director of Tamarack Ottawa Race Weekend
A message from Executive Director, Ian Fraser
Dear participants,
With two months to go, we want to update you on our decision-making process around staging Tamarack Ottawa Race Weekend and Scotiabank Ottawa Marathon on May 23-24, 2020. The health and safety of our participants, volunteers, spectators, and the residents of both Ottawa and Gatineau, are our first priority. With circumstances continuing to change with unprecedented speed around the world, we are diligently working on contingency plans for Canada’s largest race weekend.
With an event of this size and scope, the decision to postpone or to cancel has to take into consideration many factors. Most importantly: how will it impact you, the participant, along with the large number of charities, organizations and small businesses associated with the event—many of which count on us for crucial fundraising and revenue dollars.
We are not taking these decisions lightly.
We will share a comprehensive update in the coming days. We appreciate your patience and understanding during this difficult time. With the incredible strength and resilience of our running community, we will make it through this together.
Ian Fraser
