Introducing Luisa’s Burritos and Bowls

Presented by Mad Radish, Official sponsor of the Tamarack Ottawa Race Weekend Finish Line VIP Tent

The last few months has put us to the test in all kinds of previously unimagined ways. It’s been no exception for restaurants and the tens of thousands of people they employ and at Mad Radish, we knew we had to innovate to meet the new challenges. So we threw ourselves into dreaming up a new restaurant concept inspired by one of our favourite comfort foods: the burrito. We set our sights on a fresher, internationally-inspired approach. And Adam, our co-founder and a world traveller, spent his evenings chopping, blending and creating with his Colombian wife, Luisa. We fell in love with their authentic South American ingredients and internationally-inspired fusion recipes and decided to launch them now through Ubereats. While so many other aspects of our lives are on hold, it’s brought us pleasure to breathe this idea to life.

All of our signature burritos are packed with healthy ingredients like protein, healthy greens, beans, brown rice and so much more that, combined, are not only delicious but also healthy. Best of all, our ingredients are house made and prepared fresh daily.

So, what makes our burritos healthy and so satisfying after aworkout? The protein not only fills you up long after lunch but also provides your body with essential amino acids for building new muscle tissue after vigorous exercise. They are essential, which means they can’t be produced by your body and must be obtained from food. Amino acids have been shown to build muscle, decrease muscle fatigue and alleviate muscle soreness. All great things after a long run or gym session.

The brown rice in our burritos provides your body with energy after tough workouts and replenishes energy stores in muscles in the form of glycogen. Paired with this, the kale found in many of our signature burritos, like the Vida Verda and The Barranquilla, is packed with antioxidants.

Our menu has something for everyone and includes vegetarian options like The Flaming Batata featuring sweet potatoes which are packed with soluble fibre to help you feel fuller, meaning you’re less likely to overeat. Plus, it helps prevent blood sugar spikes by slowing your digestion of sugars. You can also select tofu instead of chicken to create an amazing vegan meal or build your burrito made exactly the way you like it.
