Une chose est s\u00fbre\u00a0: je ne battrais pas mon record personnel le 28\u00a0mai prochain. Et \u00e7a me va.<\/p>\n<p>Dans le pass\u00e9, j\u2019avais \u00e0 c\u0153ur mes records personnels. \u00c0 chacun de mes marathons, j\u2019ai r\u00e9ussi \u00e0 retrancher quelques minutes ou secondes \u00e0 mon meilleur temps pr\u00e9c\u00e9dent. Il s\u2019agissait d\u2019un excellent param\u00e8tre pour indiquer le niveau d\u2019effort que j\u2019avais d\u00e9ploy\u00e9 pendant l\u2019entra\u00eenement et comment mon \u00e9preuve s\u2019\u00e9tait d\u00e9roul\u00e9e.<\/p>\n<p>Par contre, cette ann\u00e9e, les choses sont diff\u00e9rentes\u00a0: je reviens \u00e0 la course apr\u00e8s une pause de deux\u00a0ans et je dois maintenant m\u2019entra\u00eener en fonction du fait que nous avons maintenant un enfant. Je me suis engag\u00e9 \u00e0 ne pas laisser la course (trop) empi\u00e9ter sur le temps que je passe en famille.<\/p>\n<p>Par contre, au fond de moi, je r\u00eavais de courir plus vite que jamais lorsque je me suis inscrit. Je voulais battre mon dernier record personnel.<\/p>\n<p>Mais les choses ont bien chang\u00e9. Chaque semaine, je manquais un entra\u00eenement important (ou deux). Et chaque semaine, je n\u2019arrivais pas \u00e0 courir selon la cadence que je m\u2019\u00e9tais fix\u00e9e. Peu importe ce qu\u2019am\u00e8nerait la journ\u00e9e de l\u2019\u00e9preuve, je n\u2019arriverais pas \u00e0 battre mon dernier record.<\/p>\n<p>Et c\u2019est en courant calmement le long du canal Rideau, par une belle soir\u00e9e, que je me suis rendu compte que \u00e7a ne me d\u00e9rangeait aucunement. Courir plus rapidement n\u2019\u00e9tait plus ma motivation.<\/p>\n<p>Au cours des trois\u00a0derniers mois, au lieu de m\u2019en faire parce que je n\u2019avais pas suffisamment de temps pour courir autant que je le voulais, j\u2019ai pris le temps de mettre mon fils au lit. J\u2019ai pass\u00e9 du temps avec mes parents, qui ont r\u00e9cemment d\u00e9m\u00e9nag\u00e9 \u00e0 Ottawa. J\u2019ai fait des heures suppl\u00e9mentaires. Bref, le train-train quotidien.<\/p>\n<p>Et . .<\/p>\n<p>J\u2019ai tout de m\u00eame r\u00e9ussi \u00e0 inclure deux ou trois\u00a0courses satisfaisantes chaque semaine. J\u2019ai repris contact avec mon merveilleux groupe de course. Je suis plus en forme et plus heureux que je ne l\u2019\u00e9tais avant que je m\u2019inscrive au marathon. Et la \u00ab\u00a0cerise sur le sundae\u00a0\u00bb? Dans trois semaines, je parcourrai une superbe ville, sous les encouragements des spectateurs et avec l\u2019aide des b\u00e9n\u00e9voles, qui me donneront de quoi me ravitailler pendant mon trajet. C\u2019est tout simplement g\u00e9nial!<\/p>\n<p>La course nous en apprend beaucoup. En d\u00e9cembre, je ne me serais jamais inscrit si j\u2019avais eu le moindre doute de ne pas \u00eatre en mesure d\u2019\u00e9tablir un nouveau record personnel. Je sais maintenant qu\u2019il y a d\u2019autres choses importantes \u00e0 mes yeux, mais cela ne signifie pas que je ne peux pas appr\u00e9cier la beaut\u00e9 de la course et l\u2019exp\u00e9rience d\u2019un marathon.<\/p>\n<p>En r\u00e9alit\u00e9, le simple fait de courir, sans r\u00e9elles attentes, pourrait \u00eatre plus important que jamais pour garder les \u00e9l\u00e9ments en perspective.<\/p>\n<p>Donc, pour le moment, je vais mesurer mes records personnels non pas en minutes et en secondes, mais en moments d\u2019\u00e9quilibre. L\u2019\u00e9quilibre entre la course et mes autres priorit\u00e9s. Mes records personnels se d\u00e9finiront dor\u00e9navant en \u00e9quilibre personnel.<\/p>\n<p><b>Mention sp\u00e9ciale\u00a0:<\/b>\u00a0Mon entra\u00eenement n\u2019aurait pas \u00e9t\u00e9 possible sans la pr\u00e9cieuse aide de mon \u00e9pouse, Meghan, qui a accept\u00e9 que je me pr\u00e9pare en vue d\u2019un autre marathon malgr\u00e9 que nous soyons tr\u00e8s occup\u00e9s et qui m\u2019a permis de faire autant de courses que possible.
