Alberta Strong
Whenever disaster strikes, runners tighten their laces and hit the pavement to make a difference. It’s one of the things that makes running such a positive force in our communities.
Over the last week, Canada and people around the world have watched in horror as massive wildfires have wreaked havoc across Northern Alberta, destroying large parts of the town of Fort McMurry, and displacing thousands of families in the process.
For a region already hard hit by an economic downturn, it’s a terrible story. But the good news is that people have been reaching out to help. And we are ready to do our part.
Run Ottawa has partnered with the Red Cross Alberta Fires campaign to harness the power of the almost 50,000 runners expected at the 2016 Tamarack Ottawa Race Weekend.
When you donate to, or fundraise for, the Alberta Fires campaign, every one of your dollars will be matched by the Canadian government.
If you are registered for a race but are not fundraising for a charity, create your fundraising profile today by visiting our charities page, clicking Canadian Red Cross, and then Be a Fundraiser.
If you are already raising money for a charity, you can make a one-time donation here. Look for the “Donate Now” button.

Let’s show Alberta that we’re running with them!
