Contest Details

1. General overview of contest
The entrant who submits the Qualifying Submission (defined in Section 2) receiving the most viewings by the public on the Ottawa Marathon YouTube channel found at will receive One Free Week at Camp or Regional Day Camp (value up to $200.00) courtesy of the National Capital Region YMCA-YWCA. This prize is valid for 2012 – 2013.

2. No Purchase Necessary. How to enter.
To participate in the Contest, a parent or guardian of the contestant agree to all the contest rules and must register as users (or already be a registered user) on and upload your Qualifying Submission on When registering on YouTube, the title of your video must include the words "Y I'm Running the Y Kids Marathon in May" as well as your YouTube Account Name.

In addition to uploading your Qualifying Submission on YouTube, you must also register on including completing your name, age, telephone number, address, e-mail address, your YouTube Account Name, and your YouTube video URL. To be a Qualifying Submission, your video must meet the following requirements:

a. Maximum 120 seconds (2 minutes).

b. Video must be in English and must include the following information:

  • Entrant's name and city of residence
  • Name of the parent or guardian
  • The words "Y I'm Running the Y Kids Marathon in May"
  • A description of why you are participating in the 2012 Y Kids Marathon
  • A description of what activities or sports you participated in and included on your tracker sheet
  • Why kids your age should participate in next year's Y Kids Marathon
  • (If applicable) Which charity you are raising money for and why
  • Video must be original and be produced, created and written solely by you (although more than one person can appear in the video (provided they consent to appearing in the video), the video itself must be produced, created and written solely by you).

c. Video must be reviewed by the contestant's parent(s) or guardian before it is submitted.

d. Any video containing trade-marks, copyrighted material or other material (including music) owned by a third party will not be accepted, unless entrant proves that he/she has express permission to use such material.

e. All content must be suitable for public viewing as determined in the sole discretion of Sponsor and/or its agent. Content must not be offensive, defamatory, invasive of publicity rights or privacy rights of any person (living or deceased), or otherwise infringe upon any person's personal or proprietary rights.

f. Otherwise comply with these Contest Rules.

Note that all videos uploaded onto will be vetted by Sponsor and/or its agent to ensure appropriateness of content for public viewing and compliance with these Contest Rules. Only videos that are deemed appropriate and compliant will be officially considered Qualifying Submissions and posted by Sponsor and/or its agent on the Ottawa Marathon channel of YouTube. Videos that are deemed by Sponsor and/or its agent to be inappropriate and/or non-compliant will not be considered Qualifying Submissions, will not be posted by Sponsor or its agent on the Ottawa Marathon channel of YouTube, and will not be entered in this Contest. Sponsor and/or its agent and YouTube reserve the right in their sole discretion to suspend or disable any inappropriate and/or non-compliant Contest submission uploaded onto

3. Eligibility.
All registered participants in the Y Kids Marathon are eligible to enter, except employees, representatives and agents of Run Ottawa ("Sponsor") and the YMCA-YWCA of the National Capital Region(charity partner), its affiliates and their advertising and marketing agencies, and persons domiciled with any of the above.

4. Contest period.
In order to be a Qualifying Submission, your video must be uploaded on by you, with the consent of your parent(s) or guardian, or by your parent(s) or guardian, and you must have also registered for the contest between May 9, 2012 and May 21, 2012 at 11:59 p.m. All times in these Rules refer to EDT. Limit one (1) entry per person.

5. Review of Qualifying Submission.
Any video selected to win a prize is subject to review to confirm that the video is indeed a Qualifying Submission and otherwise complies with the Contest Rules. If any such submission is found not to meet the requirements of a Qualifying Submission or otherwise is not in compliance with these Rules, that submission shall be disqualified and another submission may be selected to receive the prize.

6. Prizes.
Every registered participant who submits a video into the contest will receive a One Week Family Core Membership (value up to $52/day based on two (2) adults and four (4) children) courtesy of theYMCA-YWCA of the National Capital Region. Membership expires August 31, 2012.

The video that receives the most "views" will be declared the winner of the contest. The contest winner will receive One Free Week at Camp or Regional Day Camp courtesy of the YMCA-YWCA of the National Capital Region (value up to $200.00). This prize is valid for 2012 – 2013.

The confirmed contest winner is responsible for any cost or expense, including taxes, not explicitly indicated as part of the prize. Prize will be awarded to confirmed winner and must be accepted as awarded and cannot be transferred or substituted. Your chance of winning a prize in Round 1 will depend on the number of viewings your Qualifying Submission receives.

7. General terms.
Any person selected to win the prize will be contacted via both telephone and e-mail using the contact information provided by the entrant on the registration page. All entrants selected to win a prize must also otherwise comply with the Contest Rules in order to be confirmed a winner and receive a prize.

To be confirmed a winner of the prize, each selected entrant is required to sign and return within the time indicated to them: (1) a Prize Acknowledgement Form, which includes a standard declaration of compliance with the Contest Rules and a release (including publicity and copyright release and waiver of moral rights); and (2) any other document specified under these Contest Rules. If a document is not completed, signed and returned within the time specified, or if a selected entrant cannot be contacted or has not responded within one week of the date when contact was first attempted, or if a selected entrant does not comply with the Contest Rules, the selected entrant is disqualified and will not receive a prize, and the second place entrant will be selected in accordance with the rules.

9. Ownership and licensing of submissions.
(a) By entering a video into the Contest: (i) entrants grant to the Sponsor an irrevocable, non-exclusive, paid-up, worldwide license to reproduce, translate, communicate, distribute, edit, adapt, copy and otherwise use all or any part of the video for any purpose relating to the Contest or any other advertising or promotion of the Tamarack Homes Ottawa Race Weekend, and (ii) entrants waive their moral rights, if any, in and to their video in favour of the Sponsor.

(b) For all videos submitted into the Contest, entrant must at the time of entry into the Contest either: (i) be the sole owner of all right, title and interest (including copyright and moral rights) in and to the video and all things depicted in the video and sounds included in the video, or (ii) if the video contains any trade-marks, copyrighted material or other property owned by a third party, have verifiable express permission of the third party to use such material in accordance with these Contest Rules.

(c) If any person other than the entrant appears in the submitted video, then the entrant must, upon request, provide to the Sponsor a signed consent and release from that person.

(d) All copies of the videos and related entry materials that are sent to the Sponsor become the property of the Sponsor and will not be returned or acknowledged.

By entering this Contest, each entrant agrees to be bound by these Contest Rules and the decisions of the Sponsor, which are final and binding on all entrants and may not be challenged in any way. The Sponsor reserves the right to disqualify any submission or entrant that (1) contains or has supplied untruthful, incomplete, inaccurate, inappropriate or misleading information or information/material that is otherwise non-compliant with the Contest Rules; or (2) is attempting to undermine the legitimate operation of the Contest or is otherwise engaging in unfair, inappropriate or objectionable practices. The Sponsor reserves the right in its sole discretion to disclose any entries (including videos) to law enforcement. Entrants agree not to (1) upload or submit any material that is invasive of privacy rights, or which violates or infringes upon the rights of any third party, including trade-mark, copyright, privacy and publicity/personality rights; or (2) upload any material that contains software viruses or any other computer code, files or programs designed to interrupt, destroy or limit the functionality of any computer software or hardware or other equipment.

By entering this Contest, each entrant agrees and acknowledges that the Sponsor, and each of its affiliates, divisions, subsidiaries and advertising and promotions agencies, and each of their respective employees, officers, shareholders, representatives, directors and agents (collectively "Releasees") are not responsible for and shall not be liable for: (i) late, lost, delayed, misdirected, mutilated, incomplete, unreadable, inaccurate, garbled or unintelligible submissions; (ii) any notification that is lost or not received by an entrant selected to win a prize; (iii) any injury or other damage to person or property of any kind or any other liability, which may be related to the Contest or a prize; (iv) any inability to participate in the Contest due to any technical or other failure; and (v) any errors associated with determining the most number of viewings or votes.

Submissions shall be deemed to be submitted by the authorized account holder of the e-mail address associated with the entry. "Authorized account holder" of an e-mail address shall mean the natural person who is assigned to an e-mail address by an Internet access provider, on-line service provider, or other organization responsible for assigning e-mail addresses for the domain associated with the submitted e-mail address.

13. Privacy.
By submitting your personal information, you consent to the Sponsor's collection and use of your personal information to administer this Contest as well as in accordance with Sponsor's privacy policy and as otherwise permitted by law. By entering the Contest, entrant understands that his/her submission will be posted on along with entrant's name and city of residence and may be posted on along with entrant's name, city of residence and as otherwise set out in the Contest Rules.

The Sponsor reserves the right to use the following in association with the Qualifying Submission, without compensation, in any advertising and publicity, including in relation to the Contest or Run Ottawa, in any media throughout the world (including in perpetuity: (1) the name and city of residence of any entrant in the Contest and (2) the name, city of residence, Brief Profile, voice, comments, likeness and/or photograph of any entrant selected to win a prize.

The Sponsor reserves the right to cancel, terminate or suspend the Contest and to amend the Contest without prior notice at any time and for any reason. The Contest is subject to all relevant laws. No communication or correspondence will be exchanged with entrants except with those selected as eligible to win a prize or in Sponsor's sole discretion.
