We’re excited to announce that the official Marathon Torch will be visiting from Greece for the 2013 Tamarack Ottawa Race Weekend. To celebrate the presence of this international symbol of the marathon, we are holding the first ever Ottawa Marathon Torch Relay. This 42km, 80-person relay will culminate in the lighting of a ceremonial cauldron at City Hall—and you can be a part of it!
To find runners for our relay team, we have started a Torch Relay Contest. Entering is easy. Just email [email protected] a picture of you showing us your “Pheidippides” (the Greek courier whose legendary run inspired the modern marathon). On April 22nd, we will begin drawing names from the submitted entries.
Members of the CTV2 News crew (Lianne Laing, Jeff Hopper and Kurt Stoodley) showing us their best “Pheidippides”.
