Reaction to today’s explosions at Boston Marathon

April 15, 2013 – OTTAWA – Tamarack Ottawa Race Weekend shares the shock and regret felt around the world following this afternoon’s explosions at the finish line of the Boston Marathon.

“We are saddened to learn about the three reported deaths and the many injuries to runners and spectators,” says John Halvorsen, Race Director and President of the Tamarack Ottawa Race Weekend. “Our thoughts are with their families and friends.”

“In Boston, Ottawa and in every city that stages road races, the primary goal is always to offer runners a well-managed race event that is safe and secure,” added John Halvorsen. “Whatever the cause of the explosions, it is deeply regrettable. In the coming days and weeks, we will certainly review our security protocols with the Ottawa Police Service to ensure the safety of our runners and spectators.”
