Support meant to provide motivation for the next generation of runners - October 20, 2010, OTTAWA – Run Ottawa, the organization behind the Ottawa RaceWeekend, is extending its community involvement to the elementary school level. The organization will be providing financial support to the first ever Eastern Ontario elementary school cross-country championships, to be held this Saturday, October 23rd at Mooney’s Bay.

Community Spirit Award encourages community participation during Race Weekend - June 16, 2010, OTTAWA – The Crichton Community Council has won the Ottawa Race Weekend’s $2,000 Community Spirit Award for its enthusiasm in cheering on Ottawa Marathon participants on Sunday, May 31st. The Crichton Community Cheering Station was located at 55 Mackay Street in New Edinburgh.

Cloudy skies and cool temperatures make for good running conditions at Canada’s largest race event - May 30, 2009, OTTAWA – A new Ottawa Marathon course record of 2:09:33 was set today by Japanese runner Arata Fujiwara. The previous best finishing time in the marathon distance was 2:10:35 set by David Cheriuyot in 2007. Fujiwara will take home $23,000 US for his efforts.

Canadian male and female athletes finish in the top 10 - May 29, 2010, OTTAWA – Ottawa Race Weekend recorded a new “first” this evening when Dire Tune of West Chester, Ethiopia became the first woman to cross the finish line ahead of a man with a time of 32:11 minutes.
