Elite runners, organizers and fundraisers available to media, Friday, May 28 at 1 p.m.

May 25, 2010 – Ottawa – The Ottawa Race Weekend invites media to meet select elite athletes, organizers, official charity representatives and other persons of interest:

Date: Friday, May 28th, 2010

Time: 1:00 p.m.

Location: Food Concessions area of the Pfizer Health and Fitness Expo. Aberdeen Pavilion, Lansdowne Park, 1015 Bank Street

Available:

• Several elite runners, including Deriba Merga, Eric Gillis, David Cheruiyot, Bazu Worku, Arata Fujiwara, Wodajo Teferi, Lioudmila Kortchaguina, Alemitu Abera, Dire Tune, Emebet Bacha Lencho (list is subject to change)

• Rick Ball, one-legged runner who broke the 10K world record in Ottawa last year and is attempting to break his own record of 3:01:50 for a marathon.
• Josh Cassidy, Wheelchair Marathon Championship competitor, winner of the 2010 London Marathon
• Denny Morrison, gold medallist at the Vancouver Olympics in speed skating, running the 5K to raise funds for Canadian Athletes Fund Now
• Krista Shipman, cervical cancer survivor and City of Ottawa paramedic, Running the half-marathon in support of cancer research at the Ottawa Hospital
• Jane Roos, Founder and Executive Director, Canadian Athletes Fund Now (official national charity)
• Danielle St-Aubin, Vice President, Donor Relations and Communications, Ottawa Hospital (official local charity)
• John Halvorsen, President, Run Ottawa
• Carl Martin, Board Member, Run Ottawa
• Jim Robinson, General Manager Run Ottawa
• Manny Rodrigues, Elite Athlete Coordinator, Run Ottawa

 Lunch will be served starting at 12 p.m. in the Food Concessions area
