Ottawa Residents

Ottawa Race Weekend For Residents Sunday May 27th - Exit strategies

  • The race route will be closing on Sunday morning (May 27th) between 0600 and 0700.
  • Residents wishing to cross the route on race morning should consider approaching one of the intersections manned by Police.  There may be some delays (once runners are on course)but police will try to get cars across as soon as possible.
  • With the heaviest runner traffic during the race, cars will not be able to get across the route
Emergency vehicles will still have access as required and will be coordinated through the race command post
  • If residents must drive during the heaviest runner traffic they might consider parking their car outside the route the night before and walking across the route in the morning.
  • The route will reopen after the last runners have cleared the section and water stations are cleaned up.

Crossing points

Even during peak runner traffic there are several options for crossing the route which will remain open at all times

  • Downtown – MacKenzie Bridge – to avoid Sussex/Wellington intersection or Laurier bridge
  • Bank street and Bronson Bridges to avoid Queen Elizabeth and Colonel By.
  • 417 at east bound at Parkdale  and Westbound at Rochester  to avoid Westboro closures
