Dust off that vintage marathon t-shirt. It’s time to party like it’s 1975.
On May 22nd, Run Ottawa is holding a special kick-off event for the 2014 Tamarack Ottawa Race Weekend and 40th running of the Ottawa Marathon. And we need you there wearing your Ottawa Marathon shirts from years past. We want to see shirts from every year from 1975 to 2013!
This is your official invite to join us at Ottawa City Hall’s Festival Plaza at noon on May 22nd for remarks from Mayor Jim Watson, a “class picture” with everyone wearing their vintage Ottawa Marathon shirts, followed by a 2K warm-up run led by the first winners of the Ottawa Marathon, Mehdi Jaouhar and Eleanor Thomas.
You’ll also have a chance to meet some of the elite athletes competing in this year’s races including Olympian Eric Gillis, Boston Marathon Champion Wesley Korir and Canadian Marathon Record Holder Lanni Marchant.
After the run, we’ll serve cake and coffee and there will be a chance to mingle and chat about races run, as well as meet some of the elite athletes participating in this year’s event.
