Introducing Rob Watson and Le Team du Rob

Rob Watson

We hope you already know who Rob Watson is. But if you don’t . . .

Last year, Rob was top Canadian at the Boston Marathon, finishing 11th after leading that most famous of races in the early going. He then finished as top Canadian at the Ottawa Marathon only six weeks later, earning him the title of Canadian Marathon Champion.

And Rob was just getting started.

He  ran for Canada at the IAAF World Championships, finishing 20th in the marathon event on a hot, sunny Moscow day. And, finally, for an encore, he set a PB of 2:13:29 at the 2013 Scotiabank Toronto Waterfront Marathon.

Not a bad 2013, wouldn’t you say? And Rob also found the time to write an incredibly honest, funny and inspiring blog about his running exploits called: LeBlogDuRob.

So what will Rob do in 2014? One thing we know for sure is that he’s coming back to defend his Canadian Championship at this year’s Scotiabank Ottawa Marathon. And we’re pumped. But he’s not just coming back to defend his title. Rob has also generously agreed to help coach a team of five recreational runners as they try to reach their own big marathon goals.

Indeed, big goals and marathons are something Rob knows a bit about.

So, without further ado, let us introduce you to Le Team du Rob. We’ll be documenting their journey to the Scotiabank Ottawa Marathon on this blog over the next few months. In our next post, we find out a little bit more about each of these runners and find out about their reasons for running and goals for this year’s marathon.
